Your words are yours.
This is the most personal data a person owns. Here is exactly what we do with it, in plain language.

What we keep
Your account details: an email address, the name you asked us to call you, and your settings. Your words: every lesson, quote, story, reflection, voice recording, and photograph you add to your library, with the dates and reactions attached to them. If you order a book, the shipping address and a record of the order.
What we do with it
Your words are used for one thing: serving you. That means storing them, echoing them back to you, and assembling them into a book when you ask.
- We do not sell your words or your details to anyone.
- We do not show advertising, and we do not share anything with advertisers.
- We do not use your words to train AI models, ours or anyone else's.
- Nobody on our team reads your library. Access is governed by row-level security on every table in the database, which means the database itself refuses to return a row to anyone but its owner.
How AI touches your words
Some features send your words to an AI model to provide the feature: suggesting a title, finding the lesson in a story, transcribing a voice recording or a photographed page, and arranging your entries into a manuscript. The model’s output lands beside your words, never over them, and you accept or reject every change. Each run is logged for you, with what was sent and what came back, so you can see every time AI touched your library. Our AI providers are contractually barred from retaining your words or training on them.
Who else sees anything
A small number of providers handle the parts we cannot run ourselves. Each sees only what it needs to do its job.
- Hosting and database: store your library, encrypted at rest and in transit.
- Email and messaging: deliver an echo to your inbox or phone when you choose those channels. They see the entry you asked to be sent, and nothing else.
- Payments: process a subscription or a book order. We never see your full card number.
- The print partner: receives only the files needed to print your book and the address to ship it to. The files are deleted from their systems after production.
What you choose to share
An entry is private unless you share it. When you create a share link, anyone with the link can read that one entry, and only that one, until you revoke it. If you invite family into a shared volume, they see what the volume contains and nothing from your private library.
Export and deletion
You can export your entire library at any time, in a readable format, from Settings. You can delete your account from the same place. Deletion is real: your words, recordings, photographs, and account are removed from our systems, and from backups within thirty days. A printed book you already hold is, of course, yours to keep.
Cookies
We set the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to remember your theme. There are no tracking cookies and no third-party analytics scripts.
Children
Lessons Told is for adults. A family volume may contain a child’s words only when a parent or guardian adds them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we tell you by email before it takes effect. The date at the top is the date it was last changed. Questions go to privacy@lessonstold.com and are answered by a person.
