Terms
Short, and fair.
These are the terms between you and Lessons Told. They are written to be read.
Last updated October 6, 2026
Your account
You need to be eighteen or older to open an account. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has them. You are responsible for what is added under your account.
Your words
Everything you write, record, or photograph into your library belongs to you. You keep every right to it. You give us only the limited permission we need to store it, echo it back to you, assemble it into a book, and deliver it where you ask. That permission ends when you delete your account.
You agree not to add words that belong to someone else without their permission, or that are unlawful. A quote you heard from a person in your life is yours to keep. A chapter copied from a published book is not.
The free library and Plus
The free library is complete on its own: capture, daily echoes, and a full Volume One. Lessons Told Plus adds unlimited voice, advanced echoes, extra volumes, and family volumes for $7.99 a month or $69 a year. You can cancel at any time from Settings; the subscription ends at the close of the period you have paid for, and your library stays yours.
Printed books
- Prices are shown before you pay. The first copy in an order is $99.99; copies two to four are $69.99 each; every copy after that is $59.99. Shipping and any tax are added at checkout.
- You approve the manuscript before it goes to print. Once a book is in production it cannot be changed or cancelled, because it is being made for you alone.
- If a book arrives damaged or misprinted, tell us within thirty days and we will reprint it at no cost.
What we promise
We will keep your words private as described in the privacy policy, keep the service running with care, and give you a way to export and delete everything. We will give you at least thirty days’ notice before any change that reduces what the service does.
What we cannot promise
The service is provided as it is. We work hard to keep it available and your words safe, and we keep backups, but no service can guarantee it will never be interrupted or that nothing will ever be lost. To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before a claim.
Ending things
You can delete your account at any time. We may close an account that breaks these terms or the law, and if we do, we will give you a chance to export your library first unless the law prevents it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which Lessons Told is registered. If something goes wrong, write to us first at hello@lessonstold.com; most things can be put right in a conversation.
